A busy week so far. James has been processing orders, writing invoices and ordering stock. After discovering Little Monsters is our best selling line I’ve been working on some new wrapping paper. My first attempt below.
As well as following up sales with e-mails and calls I’ve also been updating the website with some new Father’s Day Little Monster cards. Tomorrow morning is saved for chasing money in – not so fun! Not long till I’m picking Martha my daughter up from school and taking 12 out for Pizza for her birthday. That will be a challenge!
Back in the office after a busy half term. Love spending more time with the kids. Plenty of orders last week as well Today spent catching up on many e-mails, finishing Mother’s Day artwork for the scribbler website. Also doing a header for Emma’s lovely A Little Imagination craft sets. This is one my daughter, Martha, made over the weekend.
I had a lovely e-mail from the Scribbler print on demand site yesterday saying how well our Valentine Monster cards have sold so today I’ve been working on some Mother’s Day cards for them. Their site is getting more and more successful. Have a look www.scribbler.com.
The rest of the day has been on the phone again this time speaking to our Scottish customers who are all very friendly and helpful. We are looking for a new Scottish agent so we’ve been finding out the favourites!
Spent the day on the phone to our lovely existing and prospective customers. What a friendly (except 1!) lot of people. One lady loved my name, Belinda, as she has a teddy called the same from when she was a kid. Another guy thought I was his Mum! Orders coming in and lots of possible export business
Just got back from Exeter to visit Inside Out, a lovely gift and card shop, in Princesshay. They ordered a lovely selection of cards and they look great in the shop. I love selling to local shops!
It’s nearly the weekend:) However much I love my job I’m happy it’s Friday. James is back from The Spring Fair with orders to process and leads to follow up. Good to have someone to talk to in the office again although he does tend to ignore me!!
Working on following up contacts, sending off images to shops that have ordered. Lots of exciting things to work on in the next few weeks. I’m going to be taking on more of a sales role rather than designing in the next month. I’m hoping to get our cards into more local shops. The lovely Lantic Gallery in Tiverton is now selling our Little Monster cards.
Quiet in the office today … James is up at the Spring Fair. So far so good … only day 2 …
Most of the day has been taken up with admin – orders, statements general admin and I’ve made a start clearing up the office which I’m determined to do before the end of the week! Trying to think of ways to broaden our business by licensing, maybe targeting specific markets e.g. garden centres, schools etc …. always thinking ….
Sorry I’ve missed a few days. Its been sooooooo busy! Another trade show coming up. James is packing up the car again to go and set up the stand tomorrow. We’re sticking with the same format as it worked really well for Top Drawer. Crossing our fingers that this show is as good!
Also this week I’ve been a photographer. Set up my Cubelite and photographing our lovely gift products from Laissez Lucie Faire. Some of them soon to be on the website so look out for them. Apart from this chasing debts and admin, sending off more samples etc etc !!
… today I’ve put the 2014 Christmas Cards on to our website. Sounds mad but some of the big shops buy Christmas at this time of year. I’ve started to mail out samples to various high street stores. Christmas has changed a lot in the last few years. We used to have a really big range of designs but now we just have 8 with the possibility of doing 8 more. If the initial 8 receive good feedback we might do 8 more with specific sending captions e.g. Mum, Dad, Special couple etc.
…today we got our first order from our new sales agent. Good news. I’ve posted out a lot of follow up cards and order forms to all our contacts from Top Drawer. The new sticker I got printed made it a more exciting job and made the envelope look at bit more exciting! Any potential customers out there look out for this sticker …
Back down to earth after coming back from the trade show. James is knee deep in paperwork, can hardly see him and I’m following up contacts from the show. Good news is we got loads of contacts, the bad news is it’s taking me ages. So many ways of contacting people – facebook, twitter, phone, e-mail post and more. Which type of communication works best? I don’t know – maybe a combination of all of them so apologies if I’m annoying anyone by doing all of the above!
